Sri Lanka’s Ambassador – designate to Myanmar assumes duties

The newly appointed Ambassador – designate of Sri Lanka to Myanmar Prabashini Ponnamperuma assumed duties at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Yangon on 03 June 2024.

Addressing the staff of the Embassy upon assumption of duties, the Ambassador stated that she is dedicated to strengthen the longstanding friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Myanmar, based on Theravada Buddhism.  She also highlighted the need to enhance economic, political, and cultural connectivity between the two countries for mutual benefit.

Prabashini  Ponnamperuma is a career Foreign Service officer with more than 21 years of service in Sri Lanka Foreign Service, who held different positions during her career, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Sri Lanka Missions abroad.
